Abstract:

Purpose of research is to characterize the current state of small business in the Russian hospitality industry. Methodology includes systematic comparative analysis, correlation analysis. The results are as follows: the obtained results indicate the dynamic development of the industry. At the same time, a study of the indicator of business activity made it possible to identify low entrepreneurial confidence in the domestic hospitality industry. A comparison of the indices of entrepreneurial confidence in the hospitality with similar indicators in related industries (tourism and excursion activities) revealed the unfavorable trends in the functioning of small businesses in the tourism and hospitality industry in Russia. The results of the correlation analysis demonstrate a positive relationship between the index of entrepreneurial confidence and business profitability in the hospitality industry. Moreover, the relationship between the number of placed persons and the index of entrepreneurial confidence was not found. The author comes to the conclusion that the business confidence is influenced to a greater extent by economic indicators, and not by performance. Application of the research results is as follows: the results of the study can be useful in developing government programs aimed at supporting small businesses in the field of tourism and hospitality in Russia.
