The article considers the experience of Surgut State University in the implementation of project management methods. Activities on implementation of project management methods in the practice of the university aimed at improving the effectiveness of initiatives to transform the University into a flagship university in the region. The results of monitoring reflecting qualitative changes characterizing the formation of a new mentality of the team, the development of a sense of belonging to the implementation of the important mission of the regional university are presented.
