The creative economy is currently characterized by the priority of new technologies and discoveries growth in different spheres with a rapid increase in the volume of knowledge, the need for their further generation and a growing degree of uncertainty of economic development, which increases the relevance of research in this direction. The creative economy as a space of new economic relations based on creative innovations is consistently but not uniformly distributed across all spheres and sectors. The analysis of the dynamics of a number of indicators of the banking sector-capital, total assets, total profit shows the growth of the resource potential of the banking sector. However, this growing potential, as an important factor of the market economy in general, receives less and less effective use according to the same market criteria. The considered trends show the limitations of conservative approaches to the development of banking activities, which significantly constrain market incentives and increasingly rely on non-market decisions on the directions and volumes of use of limited credit resources. In this situation, it is necessary to increase the level of banking business creativity, which at the present stage of development should be considered as one of the backbone in the process of formation of the creative economy. It is becoming an important component of the core content of both banking and the creative economy.
