This article presents the results of a qualitative study whose purpose was the identification of the real factors influencing the emigration of Russian citizens in the countries of South-East Asia. Russia annually loses thousands of highly qualified professionals, which reduces human capital and impedes the development of the state. The study determined the factors of "brain drain" from Russia to the countries of South-East Asia, the authors allocated the criteria of the country of residence, describes the main costs of emigration of Russian citizens.
Highlights:
1. The key push factors in the economic sphere are: the economic crisis, unemployment, low wages, very poor working conditions. In the social sector: low level of life, war, lack of opportunities for development. The main attracting factors in the social sphere are: a high standard of living, decent wages, the absence of war (peace), opportunities for self-realization.
2. We selected the criteria of country of residence: the culture of the country (for more quiet and peace); environmental factor; the possibility of obtaining a good education, which will be valued worldwide.
3. Russian immigrants deal with such costs in the social sector as: the language barrier; "culture shock"; alienation in a different culture; Russian mentality; unsanitary conditions (in some areas); crowded cities; poor environment in big cities; specific food.
4. The main reason for emigration of the interviewee is not the possibility of implementing their own human capital in Russia. They can not realize their abilities and talents fully, and it may not be valued in the Russian labor market in satisfying respondents' extent.
