The state of dairy cattle breeding, despite positive trends in its development, remains difficult, which does not contribute to providing the country with dairy products on the basis of its own resources. As a key factor of sustainable development of the industry, the efficiency of labour use is considered. It requires a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis aimed at identifying the factors of its growth. Taking into account the conditions of the modern dynamic stage of production development, the methodology for assessing the efficiency of agricultural labour should be based on a comprehensive system of meters that can ensure its completeness. For this purpose, a set of objective quantitative indicators is proposed. They are as follows: productivity, profitability, return on labour, efficiency of spendings on labour (salary), as well as the level of quality of life. On the basis of the presented methodological approach to the evaluation of the labour efficiency of dairy cattle industry workers, it is revealed that its level is provided by the whole set of the most important indicators characterizing its level. The main regularities and reasons for changes in labour efficiency in dairy cattle breeding include: low degree of concentration and specialization of production caused by a decrease in the density of dairy cows per 100 hectares of agricultural land; insufficiently high price of milk sales, having a tendency to decrease and unable to provide a level of profit that allows to expand production; irrational forms of organization of remuneration and motivation; high labour intensity, not meeting the requirements of ergonomics. It is concluded that the developed method contributes to a comprehensive analysis of labour efficiency in dairy cattle breeding, as well as provides its completeness and allows to identify patterns and causes of changes in its level.
