Abstract:

The article presents contemporary views on "business model" concept, based on the researches of scholars which have been formed during the process of historical development of this conception. The essence of this term is defined in different areas of analysis, such as technologies and innovation management, strategies, environmental sustainability, as well as social entrepreneurship. Also, the article considers the contradictions that arise between researchers about the importance and necessity of the business model concept for management practice and ambiguity of the presentation of the term. In addition, special attention is paid to the relationship between business model and innovations, such as product, process and organizational innovations, as well as to the consideration from the perspective of strategic priority for managers of various types of business. And it is presented as a source of profit.
