Abstract:

The article deals with the dynamics of the evolution of the concept of business model, based on the search for a link between the real changes in the economy and the publications of the authors in the refereed journals. The analysis of evolution of the term is based on publications of Russian and foreign scholars. Business modeling in different times is considered as a management tool, as an abstract representation of the structure and architecture of the company, as an attribute of a real company. The idea of treating a business model as a cognitive linguistic scheme has become especially popular. A special place is occupied by studies that consider the concept of business model in the context of the concept of strategy. The article also notes the views of critics of the concept of business models, which have found quite broad support. To date, the business model is presented as a separate concept, separated from the concepts of strategy, organization theory and business planning. A special place is occupied by the ideas of the business model as a kind of pattern of implementation of the company's activities.
