The article analyzes modern measures of family policy in Russia in terms of support for motherhood and childhood. The analysis of the implemented measures is accompanied by foreign comparisons, which demonstrate the presence of a broad integrated approach to support for motherhood and childhood in Russia (material, social, labour and tax support). However, the diversity of support measures for families with children does not achieve the desired indicators. The study of family policy measures in individual subjects of the Russian Federation confirms the need to develop and use differentiated regional approaches to support motherhood and childhood, caused by the difference in the values of the total fertility rate, the capabilities of the regions, and cultural characteristics. It is concluded that most measures are represented by economic incentives, which have a strong direct impact on the growth of the birth rate in Russia, but do not allow to ensure a high standard of living for families, do not solve the problem of an effective combination of parental and professional responsibilities.
