Abstract:

The approaches of foreign authors to the definition of "social entrepreneurship" are discussed in the article. And three approaches, focusing on different characteristics of this phenomenon, are highlighted. According to the former approach, social entrepreneurship is viewed as a commercial activity aimed at the solution of social problems; the second approach emphasizes the importance of innovative activity of subjects of social entrepreneurship aimed at achieving significant social impact; according to the third approach, social entrepreneurship is understood as a way to intensify social change, leading to larger-scale transformations than originally intended. The boundaries of social entrepreneurship are defined, its differences from other types of activity of economic entities are shown. The concept of social entrepreneurship is clarified due to a clearer formulation of the features that distinguish it from traditional entrepreneurial activity. It is concluded that a deeper study and popularization of the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship is necessary.
