Carrying out innovation and investment activities, organizations face risks that affect the results of this activity, and therefore risk management is one of the main activities of modern organizations. The article deals with the most well-known and widely used foreign risk management standards, such as ISO 31000 2009, FERMA and COSO II ERM, their comparative analysis is conducted. The practical application of these standards in foreign organizations engaged in innovation and investment activities (Volkswagen Group, NASA) is considered. Risk management experience in large Russian organizations, such as "Rostec", JSC "Ruselectronics", "Rosatom" and JSC "Atomenergomash" is investigated. On the basis of the conducted research, a number of approaches and measures for risk management successfully applied in foreign practice are identified, and ways of their adaptation to Russian practice are considered.
