This article analyzes the concept of "smart city", which implies effective interpenetration and coexistence of human, digital and physical systems in order to develop and improve the economic space of the country. The characteristic of the term "smart city" is given. The evolution of the concept of "smart city" in different time periods is considered. As a result of the study, the prospects of applying the concept of "smart city" in the context of the development of modern economic and strategic planning are determined.
