Abstract:

The article deals with theoretical and practical issues of measurement and application of economic complexity at the subnational level. A review of the most notable studies in this area, taking into account the methodological features of the approach at the regional level, is given. The strengths and weaknesses of the theory of economic complexity are considered. Particular attention is paid to the most important and complex methodological issues related to the tools for measuring economic complexity, as well as the use of this campaign at the subnational level, taking into account the complexity of the formation of the database system and its processing. The features of the approach to the Russian regions are revealed, the grouping of industries and sectors is proposed to justify the development strategies, mechanisms and tools of their sectoral policy.
