Russia's global transition to a digital economy will inevitably lead to changes in many sectors of the economy. Education, healthcare and production should be brought to a new level. The introduction of more effective modern technologies will increase productivity, improve the quality of life of citizens, improve the conditions for business development, will lead to the creation of new industries and professions, will ensure the independence and competitiveness of the country. The article presents and analyzes the documents developed and approved by the government of the Russian Federation aimed at the development of the digital economy in Russia. Based on the data of Rosstat, the analysis of the degree of digitalization in the economic and social spheres is carried out. The benefits and risks, pros and cons of the digital economy in the country are highlighted.
