Currently, in the Russian Federation, as in other countries of the world, there are many new forms of employment that allow the population to use their abilities and skills, are of high importance for economic growth, and therefore require study to expand government incentives and support. Along with work for remuneration, gratuitous (voluntary) work has become more widespread in recent years. Volunteerism (volunteering) is a relatively new phenomenon for Russia, the study of which is still at an early stage, despite its high social and economic importance. In this article, the authors consider volunteering as a new form of employment, analyzing different interpretations and approaches to this phenomenon in the Russian practice, as well as identify the main directions of improving the regulation of volunteer work.
