In the formation of the innovation economy of Russia, the need to develop new directions for ensuring economic security in the context of increasing internal and external risks associated with global socio-economic processes is becoming increasingly urgent. These processes followed by a qualitative transformation of the institutional environment, which is manifested in the redistribution of property rights and an increase in the share of the public sector, in the exacerbation of contradictions between existing and reformed institutions. The interests of economic security require the creation of a fundamentally new institutional environment focused on improving the competitiveness of the economy through innovation, technological breakthrough, the development of nanotechnology, an increase in the structure of production. In this regard, the work carried out a comprehensive analysis of the innovation component in the system of economic security. The author's formulation of innovations from the point of view of economic security is given. The theoretical and practical significance of the research lies in the fact that it complements the theory and expands the conceptual foundations of economic security in the innovation sphere. In the future, it is proposed to strengthen the innovative potential of the country through the use of venture capital, which plays a systemic role in the economy through the constant timely provision of innovations with the necessary investments. The conclusion substantiates the need to improve the national innovation policy, which allows for the sustainable and stable development of the national economy and its protection from all sorts of challenges and threats.
