The article analyzes the main approaches to the "knowledge management" definition, and it concludes that they are isolated from the goals and practical activities of the enterprise. The economic essence of management and knowledge diffusion is further investigated. Authors suggest an explanation of their position regarding use of the terms "knowledge management" and "information management". They propose a two-level approach to knowledge management with the hierarchy structure: at the enterprise level (“Exo-level” of information management) and at the employee level (“Endo level” of knowledge management). The management processes are detailed at each presented level. The knowledge diffusion or knowledge transformation into information is considered to be a link for both levels as a solution to entities’ innovative development, stress resistance and investment attractiveness goals achievement.
