The position of the Russian economy on the assessment of international indices and ratings in comparison with the leading countries of the world is considered. According to the indices and ratings used, the place of the Russian economy in the world is shown. For comparison the data for such countries as USA, China, Germany, France, UK, Japan are suggested. The structure of the knowledge economy model based on the Russian classification of industries is proposed. The principles of knowledge economy development are formulated.
