The article considers the social aspects of economic growth, reflecting the impact of the increase in gross domestic product the national production on employment, unemployment, incomes, consumer spending and savings of the population of the Russian Federation. Based on the analysis of statistical data the authors described the scale of poverty and social inequality. Based on the experience of foreign countries and the specifics of the existing forms of socio-economic differentiation of Russian society, the authors highlight the role of the state in regulating the monetary income of the population. Substantiates the inadequacy of the existing model of economic growth which, combined with the pollution of the environment, differentiation of the level and quality of life of the population of various areas, adverse demographic trends necessitates a new paradigm of social development, aimed at solving social problems.
