At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the role of industrialization as a factor in preserving and increasing the economic wealth (GDP) of countries has increased again. Today, Russia needs to revise its strategic priorities and reassess its industrial policy in the face of new technological challenges in order to overcome the growing backlog in the industrial sector. For sustainable growth of the Russian economy it is necessary to return to the path of permanent industrialization, including in the field of industrial equipment (production of means of production). Industrialization is a mandatory step towards economic growth. In this regard, the article reveals the main provisions of the fourth industrial revolution and, in particular, the program "industry 4.0". The current state and level of industrial development of Russia are designated and necessary steps for the accelerated reindustrialization of the domestic industry are outlined.
