Abstract:

The article presents the results of the dairy cluster cartography of the Saratov region. The subject of the article is the analysis of characteristics, agglomeration effect and identification of a regional dairy cluster. The methodological approaches proposed in the article and the analysis of the dairy cluster in the Saratov region suggests that it is a protocluster with a low level of competitiveness and high significance for the economy of the region. The field of application of the research results – the developed methodological approaches can be aimed at the development of instrumentalism of the cluster concept and contribute to the implementation of an effective cluster–oriented agrarian policy.

Highlights:

1. Saratov region is one of the most significant agrarian regions of the country with significant potential for the food production.
2. Dairy cluster is an endemic (formed due to existing prerequisites).
3. In–depth analysis of the localization in the region showed that the structure of the cluster core is a polyfocal (several centers of attraction).
