Merkulova Maya G. – Moscow City University (Moscow City University)
The monograph is devoted to the study of the general typology of Bernard Shaw’s late dramaturgy (30–40 years of the XX century). In the paper we prove step by step the idea of transformation of a classic type of chauvin «drama of ideas» into «intellectual fantasy drama» (author's term by M.M.) at a late stage of work. The author of the monograph identifies and discusses four major thematic variations of Bernard Shaw’s «intellectual fantasy drama», such as social life («Too True to Be Good», («The Millionairess», «Buoyant Billions», «Why She Would Not»), policy («On the Rocks», «GENEVA»), history («In Good King Charles's Golden Days») and philosophy («The Simpleton of The Unexpected Isles», «Fables»).
