The relevance of the study is due to the spread of non-standard employment in the form of freelancing among Russian youth. However, the implications of freelancing for young people are not well understood. In the initiative sociological research carried out by the authors, first of all, a social portrait of Russian freelancers was revealed, they were young highly qualified women (16-30 years) with valuable business qualities for the modern labor market. A significant proportion of them are married and have children. They adhere to the values of self-realization, the ability to do what they love, as well as freedom and independence. Freelancing improves the quality of life and life satisfaction in General. It is concluded that freelancers experience not only advantages, but also significant disadvantages of this form of employment, making them socially vulnerable. This raises the question of creating professional organizations of freelancers to protect their rights.
