In the article the authors raise issues related to the transformation of employment in the modern Russian economy. Along with traditional, standard forms of employment, Russia is actively developing its new forms, both in new areas of activity and in traditional areas. Employment in new forms is localized primarily in the informal sector of the economy. The advantages of new forms of employment can be fully realized only when identifying the problems associated with their use for the subsequent definition of directions of state regulation and support for their development in the interests of the state, employers and workers. In the article the authors present the results of the statistical analysis of Rosstat data on the employment of Russian citizens in the informal sector of the economy, as well as in the field of volunteer work (volunteerism); a survey of sociological studies of such new forms of employment for Russia as freelance (self-employment), volunteerism, distance employment and agency employment. The analysis allowed the authors to single out the primary tasks in the framework of developing a set of measures to develop a system for regulating the transforming labor market.
