The article considers the characteristics of knowledge economy in the era of digital transformations. The key component of a knowledge economy is a heavier reliance on intellectual capabilities than on material inputs or natural resources. We focus on the analysis and assessment of knowledge economy potential in Russia. We determine that the fundamental components of knowledge economy potential are innovation potential, scientific and technological potential, intellectual human potential and potential of digital economy development. We determine the directions of national knowledge economy, namely, the intensification of cooperation between business, government, science and education, and introduction of new professional educational programs, reduction of brain drain, maintenance and development of knowledge management processes in individual business structures.
