Abstract:

The article is devoted to the study of the nature of development of egocentrism in adolescents with mental retardation through the method "Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale". This technique allows us to consider the impact of various factors on the development of egocentrism. Today the issue of egocentrism is a socio-psychological phenomenon and it becomes relevant. Egocentrism is considered as a property of mental processes and as a characteristic of personality orientation, which affects the formation of teenager’s value system, his worldview and relationships with others.

Highlights:

•Egocentrism is a normative manifestation in children in the early stages of self-awareness formation
•Each person has a certain sphere of egocentricity
•If there is increased level of personal egocentrism in adolescents, the risk of complication of socio-psychological adaptation increases
