In these latter days most large and medium-sized enterprises carry out innovation activity in Russia. It’s not sort of a tribute to fashion or imitation of competitors, it is a way of survival in the market. Researches are not always profitable, especially in the early development stages. That’s why it is important to consider the time lag after which the innovation costs will pay off. It is obvious that the depth of researches and their fields affect very much the innovation lag. It is also obvious that the number of organizations that carried out the scientific research and the costs of these studies should affect the number of created innovations. We carried out a statistical analysis of the above-listed assumptions, and as a result of which we came to unexpected and ambiguous conclusions.
