Abstract:

The article examines the features of the development of Japan's economic interests in Central Asia in the early 21st century. We give a list of regional and sub-regional priority areas for Japan in five republics of the region. We show the nature of the approach of Japanese investors to the dialogue and search for the new ways of interaction through an equal partner dialogue. The paper gives a list of specific geographical points of the presence of Japanese interests in the areas of the countries of the Central Asia. Using the resources we show the specific views of Chinese authors on the prospects for the increase in Japanese influence in the countries of the region, taking into account the geopolitical interests of Tokyo.

Highlights:

•One of the important features of Japanese policy in Central Asia is the application of its tactics to a multilateral and multi-polar dialogue with each state in the region separately
•Chinese experts mark regions where Japan has priority vectors (Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kirigizia, Kazakhstan)
•Japanese firms avoid territories with a special local conflicts of all CA countries on purpose
•according to Chinese analysts, the territories with disputable interests with other powers, primarily the PRC and Russia are still objects of strategic planning for Japanese companies
