This article is a sequel to the authors' series of works devoted to the problems of international competitiveness assessment of modern universities. The paper analyses sectoral and subject-specific rankings. We give the indicators and rates of the global ratings ARWU-FIELD in the fields of science, ARWU-SUBJECT in thematic areas, Shanghai Rankings Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, THE Subject Ranking in the fields of science, QS World University Rankings by Faculty and QS World University Rankings by Subject and others. We present the results achieved by Russian universities in the system of global sectoral and subject-specific rankings of global competitiveness. The results obtained during the analysis confirm the assumption that sectoral and subject-specific rankings of global competitiveness allow taking into account the specificity of the activities of universities, which confirm the fact that the Russian system of higher education has international competencies in specific fields of science. The results of the analysis let us conclude that there is a need for a more in-depth study of factors that has an impact on the mechanisms for increasing the competitive positions of Russian universities in the world education market. The results of the study may be of interest to managers, teachers, researchers, post-graduate students of Russian and foreign universities and to all those interested in global competitiveness in the world education market.
