The article presents a description of the heuristic model for the competitiveness assessment of a higher educational institution. Modern market of higher education poses a challenge of securing stable competitive positions to higher educational institutions. For the solution of this problem it is necessary to assess the competitiveness level of a higher educational institution. The model described in the article makes possible a precise evaluation of a higher educational institution competitiveness, taking into account the main factors. An important advantage of the presented model is its simplicity and ease of use. Its main advantage is that it takes into account two important factors: competencies of lecturers and competencies of graduates. Since modern development trends in higher education demonstrate the importance of the competency-based approach, identification of factors of the graduates’ and lecturers’ competencies becomes an important condition in the assessment of a higher educational institution competitiveness.
