The article analyzes state governance in the field of creation and development of a competitive environment in economy. As an example for consideration of processes and results of regulation we’ve selected regions of the Northwest federal district. We chose public procurements, Federal antimonopoly service, small and medium-sized business, Institute of the Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs, tax policy and the development standard of the competition as an object of the analysis. We mark the problems hampering the development of a competitive environment in economy of regions. We also put forward proposals to solve them.
