Abstract:

Labor productivity is one of the most important indicators in activities of an enterprise. The most important goals of the research are: determination of the level labor productivity dynamics; revealing of the factors that have caused change in performance; determination of labor productivity influence on the main indices of activities of an enterprise. A classification of methodological approaches to studying of labor productivity has been proposed, as well as instruments therefor with generalization of calculation methods on the basis of uncovering of the factors influence.

Highlights:

► in Russia, top managers consider achieving of highly efficient labor as a top-priority task
► objective function of labor productivity is aimed not so much at the increase of product output, work performance, service rendering as at decreasing labor input per unit of product, service rendering which decreases their cost and increases competitiveness
► when using the comparative method, best indices in the group of homogeneous enterprises are accepted as benchmark
► the use of the balance method, absolute difference method, chain substitution method, as well as the use of functional dependences between absolute values, indices, shares, coefficients can be pointed out as the most widespread factors
► the balance method can be used to determine the performance gain according to one of the factors or one of the divisions at the given general increase of labor productivity
► when using the chain substitution method, it is necessary to observe the following condition: quantitative indices are to be the first multipliers, then – shares, and, finally, qualitative indices
► there can be variants of formulae characterizing the dependence of the studied index on the factors that influence on it
► the algorithm of using the chain substitution method depends on the type of functional connection between the indices
► aggregate influence of factors is defined as an algebraic sum of the changes of this index due to each of the factors that influence on it
► revealing of inexpedient losses of labor hours is followed by propositions of particular methods for their decrease or elimination
