The article describes the theoretical and methodological foundations of electronic money as a tool for economic security. Determined that the failure to complete absence of external and internal threats to the national economy clearly demonstrates the need for a permanent and adequate to the dictates of time, improving existing tools to ensure economic security. Obtained a conclusion that electronic money may become an instrument affecting most complex threats to economic security.
