The current processes of the formation of large integrated groups in Russia necessitate discussions of urgent and rather ambiguous issue of the influence of production concentration on the economic policy of the state and competitiveness of the economy as a whole. The paper explains the need to stimulate the process of production concentration for the purpose of dynamic development of the forest industry. The author draws a conclusion that the most important tool for improving the efficiency of the timber industry in the Primorsky Region is to promote structural change through the creation of large integrated structures.
