The article deals with the causes of the global crisis of 2008 and the influence of foreign financial institutions in the Russian banking sector. Proved the importance of bank management, on which depends the success or failure of the bank during a difficult time. Revealed serious shortcomings in the management of banks, which causes deterioration in their financial situation and leading to the bankruptcy, represented by the universal postulates for the effective functioning of the bank.
