The authors consider questions concerning the formation and development of the venture investments market in Russia. The problems of this field preventing the efficient development of venture business as an important part of the national innovation system are analyzed and clearly identified. The authors note that the involvement of venture capital is complicated by the missing of the corresponding regulatory structure and limited investment opportunities of the Russian pension and insurance funds. Moreover, nowadays, there is a necessity to draw investors' attention to the “early” – more hazardous stage of innovative projects development.
