A comparison of the indices of entrepreneurial confidence in the hospitality with similar indicators in related industries (tourism and excursion activities) revealed the unfavorable trends in the functioning of small businesses in the tourism and hospitality industry in Russia. The results of the correlation analysis demonstrate a positive relationship between the index of entrepreneurial confidence and business profitability in the hospitality industry. Moreover, the relationship between the number of placed persons and the index of entrepreneurial confidence was not found. The author comes to the conclusion that the business confidence is influenced to a greater extent by economic indicators, and not by performance.
