Abstract:

In the article on the basis of statistical data the assessment of employment trends in the informal sector of the Tyumen region (including Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Tyumen region without districts) in 2009-2018 is given. The relation of changes in the share employed in the informal sector of the economy of the South of the Tyumen region with the main socio-economic indicators, characterizing the level of development of the Russian Federation, unemployment, the nominal wage, gross regional product, volume of investment and number of small businesses, is discussed. The shortcomings of the methodology used by Rosstat to measure employment in the informal sector are revealed. The directions of further research of informal employment in the region are defined.
