The purpose of the article is to analyze the features of corporate social responsibility (CSR) of the petrochemical industry in African countries, including Nigeria, using the example of the Chinese petrochemical company Sinopec and other companies in the industry. The reasons for the interest of Chinese MNEs in Africa are analyzed, and the principles for implementing CSR projects by Sinopec and its subsidiary in Nigeria are investigated. The article analyzes the main problems of implementing the concept of CSR of the company under study and considers promising areas of development. As relevant areas of development, we can note the increased interaction of oil companies with local businesses in the implementation of social initiatives and the transition to new non-financial reporting formats.
