Dzhamankulov Bolot Saparovich – ( Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic)
The article is devoted to the actual problems of changing the sectoral structure of the Kyrgyz economy, which has changed radically since independence. There are several stages in the development of the economy of the Republic. At each stage, the goals and the main engines of economic growth had changed. New drivers of economic growth were mining, construction, trade and services. The share of large-scale industry of the Soviet period fell significantly. Currently, there is an irrational structure of the economy and foreign trade. It is characterized by a strong dependence on the conjuncture of the mining industry, the economic situation in the Russian Federation, migrant remittances and Chinese loans. The economy of Kyrgyzstan needs fundamental changes in its structure, achieving quality and balanced growth by improving the investment climate and encouraging entrepreneurship. Given the small number of major investment opportunities, emphasis should be placed on creating an institutional environment conducive to the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the country. We hope that the article will be useful for researchers and practitioners engaged in their activities in the field of economic policy, as well as teachers and students studying social sciences.
