The problems of interaction between SMEs and the state, which are related to the implementation of state measures to support small and medium-sized businesses, are considered in the article. The article includes the analysis of the current situation in the SME sector. In article the trends which are characterizing the mood of the SMEs are identified. The main factors, which slowing down the development of small business, are identified. The article includes an assessment is made of the effectiveness of state support measures for SMEs, according the perception of these measures by the business community. The article also recommendations for improving the efficiency of the system of state support of SMEs are proposed.
