Abstract:

The paper presents a comparative analysis of the following sea routes - the Northern sea route and the Southern sea route. There is a competitive analysis of advantages and disadvantages of the Northern sea route in comparison with the Southern sea route. Following on from the study of the main logistic characteristics of the canals such as length, climate, economic risks at the Northern and Southern levels of cargo shipping, we can draw a conclusion on the potential advantages of the Northern Sea Route and on the possibility of redistribution to this direction of the part of international cargo transportation currently carried out through the South sea route.
