The article substantiates the need for the formation of methodological support for the assessment of foreign economic security (VEB) of raw material regions. The content of the concept of foreign economic security of the region is revealed. The specificity of the economic development of resource regions. The analysis of scientific approaches to the formation of a system of indicators of foreign economic security of the region. The author's vision of methods of assessment of threats to foreign economic security is offered, the system of criteria of indicators of VEB taking into account their threshold values both at the regional level, and in aspect of specifics of functioning of economy of regions of a raw orientation is developed. The approbation of the offered methodical approach is carried out on the example of 12 subjects of the Russian Federation conditionally referred to the category of regions of a raw orientation on two criteria: indicator of a share of the extracting branches in structure of industrial production; indicator of the share of value added from mining in the structure of the gross regional product. The practical significance of the results of the study is determined by the possibility of their use by regional authorities as a methodological basis for monitoring threats to the foreign economic security of the regions, taking into account their raw material specifics, in order to make further management decisions in the aspect of forming an effective system to counter the identified threats to foreign economic security.
