Abstract:

The subject of this research is related to the necessity to decrease the use of nature resources as a definitive competitive advantage and search for new ways to increase the aggregated competitive potential of the countries and regions. The innovational approach to regional development that is based on the achievement of science and engineering is nowadays used with increasing frequency. In this connection, the role of clusters and competitiveness pole increases in the modern world. The goal of this research is to compare the main characteristics of cluster and competitiveness pole and to reveal their influence on the regions’ competitive development. To achieve the above goal, it is necessary to solve the following tasks: to discuss cluster and competitiveness poles, to reveal their characteristics; to perform a comparative analysis of cluster and competitiveness pole; to reveal the influence of cluster and competitiveness pole on the region’s competitive development; to propose certain measures as for the support of cluster and competitiveness pole development. Based on the existing domestic and foreign experience (including practical experience) the author has considered cluster» and competitiveness pole from the perspective of their influence on the region’s competitiveness. Certain measures have been proposed as for the support of the competitiveness poles development. The research results may be used for a more in-depth understanding of the role of cluster and competitiveness pole in promising development of the regions and also to take measures necessary to support this development.
